Alexis N. Ruginis

Alexis Ruginis currently works on a variety of litigation matters in connection with Baker Hostetler’s role as counsel to the court-appointed Trustee under the Securities Investor Protection Act (SIPA) in the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities, LLC.

Ms. Ruginis has substantial experience working internationally in Europe, South America and North America. While attending law school, Ms. Ruginis studied at King's College, London and served as a member of the U.S. Capital Markets team as part of her externship with the London office of a major international law firm. During that time, she worked with U.S. securities law assisting teams on IPOs and secondary high-yield offerings originating from such diverse markets as India, Ukraine, Estonia, South Africa and Switzerland. Prior to this opportunity, she contributed to Latin American M&A work and antitrust filings related to international transactions as a summer associate in the Bogotá, Colombia, office of a U.S.-based international law firm.

Upon graduating from law school, Ms. Ruginis was honored with the Pro Bono excellence award, due in part to her internship with the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office in Boston, Massachusetts. As a first year law student at Boston College, she co-founded the Gulf Coast Recovery Group, dedicated to providing legal services to people affected by Hurricane Katrina and volunteered at the Orleans Public Defenders.

Ms. Ruginis is actively involved in iMentor, a not-for-profit organization located in New York City, which aims to prepare students from underserved communities for college through technology-based mentoring.

Ms. Ruginis is a member of the American and New York Bar Associations.
