Ambika J. Biggs

Ambika Biggs represents clients throughout all stages of the litigation process. She has experience in matters involving international law, business torts, employment litigation, contract disputes, defamation, government contracting, consumer protection laws, patent infringement and medical malpractice.

Ms. Biggs represents clients at the trial and appellate level and has participated in both bench and jury trials. She was recently part of a litigation team that obtained dismissal of a suit brought against a foreign sovereign by an individual claiming entitlement to a reward offered for information leading to the capture of a high-profile fugitive. Guevara v. Republic of Peru, 608 F.3d 1297 (11th Cir. 2010), cert. denied, 131 S.Ct. 651 (2010). In 2010, Ms. Biggs was part of a trial team that obtained a multimillion-dollar jury verdict in New York in a case involving claims of breach of fiduciary duty and fraud. She participated in a bench trial in a related matter in which her clients were awarded indemnification and advancement of legal fees. Ms. Biggs also was part of a trial team that obtained a directed verdict in a case in Virginia involving claims for tortious interference with contract and malicious prosecution.

Ms. Biggs has provided counsel to a client in anticipation of litigation, including interviewing potential witnesses and evaluating risk potential. She also has assisted with internal investigations of a client’s compliance with its policies and procedures.

While at the University of Virginia School of Law, Ms. Biggs was an Executive Editor of the Virginia Journal of Social Policy & the Law. Before entering law school, Ms. Biggs was a reporter for the Free Lance-Star in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
