Law360: Baker Hostetler Represents Scripps in $175M 'Peanuts' Brand Deal

In an April 28, 2010, Law360 article, New York partner Steven Goldberg, Co-Chairman of the firm's Transactions Practice Team, was noted as leader of the Baker Hostetler team that represented The E.W. Scripps Co. in a recent deal with Iconix Brand Group Inc.

According to the article, Iconix will pay approximately $175 million in partnership with the heirs of "Peanuts" creator Charles M. Schulz to take over the popular cartoon brand and related assets from Scripps and United Features Syndicate Inc. Under the terms of the deal, Iconix will also acquire the licensing and character representation business of UFS unit United Media Licensing, which, in addition to Peanuts, represents the cartoon character Dilbert and children's book heroine Fancy Nancy, among others, according to the article.
