NPR/WKSU: Untangling the Fair Finance Case Continues

Cleveland partner Kelly Burgan was interviewed for the May 11, 2010, story, "Untangling the Fair Finance Case Continues," which is posted on the website of NPR affiliate WKSU.

The focus of the interview is the bankruptcy of Fair Finance Company, a 76-year-old Akron, Ohio, based investment company which ceased doing business after an FBI raid in November 2009 with over $200 million owed on investment certificates. Burgan is legal counsel for Fair Finance's court-appointed trustee, Baker Hostetler lawyer Brian Bash.

According to the story, assets from works of art to exotic cars of the former owners of Fair Fiance loan company are being gathered by Bash and Burgan. Burgan said the hunt for assets is far from over. "I hope there's much more to be found," said Burgan, "but I can tell you that there's probably much more looking to be done. We have information that's been provided, some voluntarily by counsel to some of these parties, some discovered through the company's records, some in the possession of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. We think we've got a really good start, but I hope there's a lot more to be identified."
