Labor and Employment Partner Ellen Shadur moderated a presentation, “Finding Green by Going Green: The Creation of Fiscal Opportunities through Sustainable Facilities Planning,” at the California School Boards Association (CSBA) 2011 Annual Education Conference and Trade Show held earlier this month in San Diego.
The presentation discussed sustainable school facilities planning, focusing on investment in green technology to reduce energy consumption. The panel addressed the fiscal, environmental and educational benefits to the districts, as well as the direct and indirect economic benefits to the communities the districts serve when local labor is used for the projects.
The annual education conference is the largest CSBA event each year. Attendees come from across the state and include elected members of local school district governing boards, school administrators, and state and county education officials. Among the panelists was a Director of Project Finance at Chevron Energy Solutions, a firm client.
