Baker Hostetler Announces New Partners

CLEVELAND, January 12, 2009 – The national law firm of Baker & Hostetler LLP has announced that 22 lawyers associated with the firm have been elected to the Partnership. The new partners are resident in eight of the firm’s ten offices and represent clients in the practice areas of Business, Employment and Labor, Litigation, and Tax, Personal Planning and Employee Benefits.

New partner in the firm’s Cincinnati office: 

  • M. Scott McIntyre is a member of the Employment and Labor Group and concentrates his practice in employment and labor law litigation and counseling, civil rights litigation, and appeals. He earned his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 2001, where he served as Articles Editor of the Kentucky Law Journal. McIntyre earned his bachelor's degree, summa cum laude, from Thomas More College in 1997. He is a member of the executive committee of the John W. Peck Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.

New partners in the firm’s Cleveland office: 

  • John J. Allotta is a member of the Business Group and concentrates his practice in corporate transactions. He earned his law degree, magna cum laude, from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 2001, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif. Allotta earned his bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1998.
  • Kelly S. Burgan is a member of the Business Group and concentrates her practice in bankruptcy, restructuring and creditors’ rights. She earned her law degree, summa cum laude, from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 2001. Burgan earned her bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University in 1993.
  • Michelle M. Hervey is a member of the Tax, Personal Planning and Employee Benefits Group and concentrates her practice in transactional tax and tax controversy. She earned her law degree, summa cum laude, from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 2000, where she was a member of the Order of the Coif. Hervey earned her bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from Case Western Reserve University in 1994.
  • Michael J. Montgomery is a member of the Litigation Group and concentrates his practice in general commercial and appellate litigation. He earned his law degree, summa cum laude, from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 1999, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif. Montgomery earned his bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from The Ohio State University in 1996. 
  • Michael E. Mumford is a member of the Litigation Group and concentrates his practice on complex commercial litigation, with an emphasis on defending class actions filed against the insurance industry and financial institutions. He earned his law degree, cum laude, from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 2001. Mumford earned his M.A. and his bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Case Western Reserve University 1998. 
  • Jeremy J. Sharp is a member of the Tax, Personal Planning and Employee Benefits Group and concentrates his practice in employee benefits and executive compensation. He earned his law degree from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 1999. Sharp earned his bachelor’s degree from the College of William and Mary in 1995. 
  • James A. Slater is a member of the Litigation Group and concentrates his practice in complex commercial litigation. He earned his law degree, with honors, from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 2001, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif. Slater earned his bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from Muskingum College in 1998. 
  • Michael A. VanNiel is a member of the Business Group and concentrates his practice in bankruptcy, restructuring and creditors’ rights. He earned his law degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Toledo College of Law in 2001, where he served as Note and Comment Editor of the University of Toledo Law Review and was a member of the Order of the Coif. VanNiel earned his bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University in 1995. 
  • Andrea C. (Csomos) Wall is a member of the Business Group and concentrates her practice in real estate law. She earned her law degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Toledo in 2001, where she served as Articles Editor of The University of Toledo Law Review and was a member of the Order of the Coif. Wall earned her bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Toledo in 1998. 
  • Thomas M. Wearsch is a member of the Business Group and concentrates his practice in bankruptcy, restructuring and creditors’ rights. He earned his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2001. Wearsch earned his bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from Harvard University in 1998.

New partners in the firm’s Columbus office: 

  • Matthew W. Hoyt is a member of the Employment and Labor Group and concentrates his practice in employment litigation and immigration matters. He earned his law degree from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 2000. Hoyt earned his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University in 1996. 
  • William R. Post is a member of the Employment and Labor Group and concentrates his practice in employment counseling and compliance. He earned his law degree, cum laude, from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 2000. Post earned his bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Miami University in 1997. 
  • Stacy E. Wilhite is a member of the Tax, Personal Planning and Employee Benefits Group and concentrates her practice in employee benefits. She earned her law degree, cum laude, from the University of Dayton School of Law in 1998. Wilhite earned her bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Miami University in 1995. 
  • Leigh Ann Wilson is a member of the Tax, Personal Planning and Employee Benefits Group and concentrates her practice in employee benefits. She earned her LL.M. degree, with honors, from John Marshall Law School in 2000. Wilson earned her law degree, cum laude, from Capital University Law School in 1999 and her bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from Mount Union College in 1981.

New partner in the firm’s Costa Mesa office: 

  • Kevin M. Colton is a member of the Litigation Group and concentrates his practice in automotive franchise law. He earned his law degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1980. Colton earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1977.

New partner in the firm’s Houston office: 

  • Matthew W. Caligur is a member of the Litigation Group and concentrates his practice in complex commercial litigation. He earned his law degree, summa cum laude, from South Texas College of Law in 2001. Caligur earned his M.S. degree from the University of North Texas in 1991 and his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas in 1989.

New partners in the firm’s New York office: 

  • Richard J. Bernard is a member of the Business Group and concentrates his practice in the areas of bankruptcy, restructuring and creditors’ rights. He earned his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law in 1995. Bernard earned his bachelor’s degree from Columbia University, Columbia College in 1992. 
  • Scott R. Weiser is a member of the Business Group and concentrates his practice in the areas of transactional and securities matters. He earned his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2000. Weiser earned his bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Brandeis University in 1997.

New partner in the firm’s Orlando office: 

  • Allison E. Turnbull is a member of the Business Group and concentrates her practice in the areas of land use and real estate development. She earned her law degree from Florida State University College of Law in 2001. Turnbull earned her bachelor’s degree, cum laude, with honors, from Florida State University in 1998.

New partners in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office: 

  • Natanya Holland Allan is a member of the Tax, Personal Planning and Employee Benefits Group and concentrates her practice in estate planning. She earned her law degree from Fordham University School of Law in 2001. Allan earned her bachelor’s degree from Princeton University in 1995. 
  • Stephen S. Fabry is a member of the Business Group and concentrates his practice in intellectual property and patent law. He earned his law degree from The Catholic University of America in 2001. Fabry earned his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University in 1996.
