Business Courier of Cincinnati: Cincinnati Law Office Lands Another Prominent Player

New Cincinnati partner Breck Weigel was profiled in an April 17, 2009, Business Courier of Cincinnati article, "Cincinnati Law Office Lands Another Prominent Player."

According to the article, for the second time in a month, Baker Hostetler has landed a high-profile new recruit to expand its 12-attorney Cincinnati office. Weigel, a longtime partner at Vorys Sater Seymour & Pease LLP, moved his complex litigation practice to Baker on April 8. He said he brought more than 10 clients with him, along with two employees, associate Craig Hoffman and an assistant. Weigel is a 25-year industry veteran who is slated to become president of the Cincinnati Bar Association in 2011.

"He has a big-time commercial litigation practice,” said David Holcombe, Partner-in-Charge of the firm's Cincinnati office. "He's handled several of these large and complex data-breach cases for financial institutions. These are high-stakes, bet-the-farm kinds of cases." Weigel said he was attracted by Baker's "unique roster of nationwide clients" and strong financial health. "Many firms are struggling, and this is a firm that is not," Weigel said.

Weigel's recruitment comes on the heels of another high-profile hiring. Former Convergys Corp. General Counsel Bill Hawkins joined Baker in early March.
