Christina Novotny’s practice focuses primarily on federal tax planning for individuals, C Corporations, S Corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies and real estate investment trusts. She has considerable experience in the area of real property transactions, specifically with the structuring of tax-deferred exchanges under Section 1031 of the Internal Revenue Code, installment sales and debt modifications. Ms. Novotny has also assisted both for-profit and not-for-profit real estate developers and owners in the utilization of federal and state historic tax credits and new markets tax credits. She has also assisted in the representation of clients before the Tax Court and with IRS Appeals.
Prior to joining Baker Hostetler, Ms. Novotny practiced as a CPA at one of the Big Four accounting firms where she advised individual and corporate clients on federal, state and local tax compliance issues.
During law school, Ms. Novotny served as an Executive Articles Editor for the Journal of Legislation.
Ms. Novotny is a member of the American, Ohio and Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Associations, as well as the Tax Club of Cleveland.
