Cleveland partner José Feliciano was quoted in an April 20, 2009, Cleveland Plain Dealer article, "Lawyers Group Lampoons National, Local Figures and Themselves."
The article profiled the 109th annual banquet known as the Grand Assize, a chance for attorneys from the semi-secret society of the Court of Nisi Prius to entertain friends, family, clients and other "movers and shakers in the community" with satire lampooning the newsmakers and politicos of the day. The tradition intermingles respect and recognition with lighthearted criticism, according to the article.
Lawyers who have been preparing for the Grand Assize since early November said the event offers necessary comic relief to what the public often perceives as a stone-cold-serious profession. "It's just funny," said Feliciano, chairman of the event. "It doesn't matter if you can sing or not—but it's way more funny if you can't," he said.
