Cleveland partner José Feliciano was quoted in the October 1, 2009, Cleveland Plain Dealer article, "Once Neutral on Reform Plans, Hispanic Group Backs Issue 6."
According to the article, two weeks after complaining it was excluded from reform discussions, a Hispanic community group is lining up behind a plan to restructure Cuyahoga County government. The Hispanic Roundtable, of which Feliciano is founder and current Chairman, recently endorsed Issue 6, which would replace the three county commissioners with an elected executive and 11-member council. "We will be fully engaged in the transition and formation of this government," said Feliciano.
Issue 5, placed on the ballot by Commissioners Peter Lawson Jones and Tim Hagan, would create a panel to recommend a government structure for voters to consider in 2010,according to the article. Feliciano believes the panel will be too political, and that it won't create a better form of government than the one envisioned by Issue 6. "I just do not believe that at the end of the day they're going to come up with a superior work product," said Feliciano.
