We provide a full range of copyright services performed by dedicated practitioners in the areas of software, digital media, databases, web sites, film, television content, music, books, images, photographs, manuals, advertisements, logos, designs, architectural works and other copyrightable subject matter. Our services include initial counseling, preparation and filing of applications for copyright registration and recording of pertinent documents in the Copyright Office, the U.S. Customs Service and other appropriate forums. We also assist and advise our clients in clearing uses of copyrighted works owned by others.

Our Intellectual Property (IP) lawyers litigate complex issues of copyright ownership, validity and infringement in U.S. courts, administrative agencies and around the world through our network of affiliated counsel. We work closely with Customs officials to enforce our clients' copyrights at the borders.

In addition, we negotiate and draft all forms of copyright-related agreements, such as development agreements, distribution agreements, licenses and transfer agreements, and we have performed due diligence studies in the context of domestic and international mergers and acquisitions. We provide clients with standard operating procedures and “best practices” to assist in identifying, securing and maintaining rights in all forms of copyrightable expression.

Baker Hostetler also provides enforcement monitoring services and can provide client-specific and portfolio-specific Internet portals. These portals allow clients to easily and efficiently assess the status and value of their IP portfolio for general commercial purposes and compliance with regulatory requirements such as Sarbanes-Oxley.
