Edward D. Papp

Edward Papp is currently responsible for handling a variety of matters in the asbestos litigation area. He is the managing lawyer of Baker Hostetler’s Asbestos Litigation Center (ALC). In this capacity, he supervises the ALC staff, which is currently made up of two paralegals and two case assistants.

The ALC functions as a repository for over 30,000 Baker Hostetler Ohio asbestos cases. The ALC is responsible for file organization and database entry in those cases. Mr. Papp also supervises the day-to-day duties of a number of staff lawyers, ensuring that caseload is managed efficiently.

Mr. Papp is the Ohio defense liaison counsel in the Ohio asbestos cases of both the Robert P. Sweeney and John Kittel plaintiffs’ firms. As liaison counsel, he is the defense point person in administration of the case flow throughout Ohio. His duties are to oversee discovery and pre-trial issues and report to the courts as well as other defendants in the cases. He also has served as liaison counsel for asbestos cases brought by other plaintiffs' firms such as Baron and Budd.

Mr. Papp has trial experience and has participated in numerous trial de ben esse depositions. He is active in discovery matters and motion practice, having successfully argued motions in various courts in Ohio. Throughout his career, Mr. Papp has worked in areas such as insurance defense, domestic relations, and has served as an executor of an estate.

Mr. Papp is a member of the American, Cleveland Metropolitan and Ohio Bar Associations. Mr. Papp has been named a Super Lawyers “Rising Star” by a panel of his peers, which distinguishes him as one of the top 2.5 percent “up-and-coming” attorneys in Ohio, since 2004.
