Erin R. Barker-Brown

Erin Barker-Brown focuses her practice primarily in the areas of complex commercial litigation and white collar defense. Her experience includes advising and defending clients in a wide variety of matters, including class actions, contractual disputes, business torts litigation, bankruptcy and intellectual property disputes.

Ms. Barker-Brown has represented clients in formal and informal investigations by the Securities Exchange Commission, SEC enforcement actions, shareholder class actions and shareholder derivative actions. In addition, she is a member of the Baker Hostetler team serving as court-appointed counsel to the SIPA Trustee for the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC.

Ms. Barker-Brown’s class action experience includes assisting a FORTUNE 500 financial services company in the opposition of two major consumer class certifications brought under the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act.

Recently, as part of the firm’s pro bono program, Ms. Barker-Brown secured a remand, resulting in a reversal, on an appeal to the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals for a client who had been wrongly ordered to pay restitution in a social security fraud case.

Prior to joining Baker Hostetler, Ms. Barker-Brown served as a law clerk to The Honorable Nancy K. Johnson of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas. She has served as an extern to The Honorable Edmund A. Sargus Jr. of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio and as an intern in the Environmental Torts Litigation section of the Civil Division of the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.

Ms. Barker-Brown is a member of the Cleveland Metropolitan, Ohio and American Bar Associations. She currently serves on the Special Events Committee for Open Doors Academy, an enrichment program for middle school students in the Greater Cleveland area.
