Houston partner Gregory Etzel has been invited by the University of Texas at Austin School of Law to address its 22nd Annual Health Law Conference, to be held April 7-9, 2010, in Houston.
Etzel, whose primary area of practice involves the representation of hospitals and other providers relating to healthcare regulatory matters and payment disputes, will discuss, "All Eyes on Quality: The Increasing Role of Quality in Federal Program Payment and Enforcement Policies:"
Historically, Medicare payment policy was driven by the costs of services provided, or quantity of health care services. This session addresses the shifting emphasis in Medicare payment policy towards incorporating quality measures into the amount of payment for health care services. In addition, the session addresses the focus of federal enforcement authorities on quality-related issues.
