CLEVELAND, OH – August 4, 2006 José C. Feliciano, a partner in Baker Hostetler's Cleveland office, has been appointed to the American Bar Association's Standing Committee on Federal Judiciary. The appointment, made by the President of the ABA, is based upon reputation for professional competence, integrity and devotion to public service.

The Committee consists of fifteen members, representing each of the federal judicial circuits (two from the Ninth Circuit) and one member-at-large. Mr. Feliciano represents the Sixth Circuit. The investigation process includes: A review of the nominee's legal writings; confidential interviews with those likely to have information regarding the integrity, professional competence, and judicial temperament of the nominee, including federal and state judges; meeting with the nominee; and providing a written report and rating recommendation to the Committee. At the conclusion of its investigation, the Committee advises the White House, the Office of the Attorney General and the Senate Judiciary Committee of its rating of the nominee.

Mr. Feliciano, who is a member of the ABA's Latin America Law Initiative Advisory Council, previously served on the Board of Governors and House of Delegates of the ABA, and was formerly Chair of the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution and the ABA representative to the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws.
