George W. Hairston

George W. Hairston maintains an active corporate and litigation practice with an emphasis on healthcare, insurance, corporate law and motor vehicle franchise litigation.

Mr. Hairston is general counsel and advisor to a number of corporate clients, including an Ohio property and casualty insurer, an Ohio life insurer, a regional health insurer based in Columbus and a major Columbus hospital. He also has extensive experience in the development and operation of both domestic and foreign captive insurance programs.

Mr. Hairston is recognized as an authority in Ohio in the area of motor vehicle franchise law. He represents several motor vehicle manufacturers on dealer franchise matters and serves as regional litigation counsel to one of world’s largest automobile manufacturers.

Mr. Hairston is a former Managing Partner of the firm’s Columbus office, a position he held from 1979 to 2006, and he is a former member of the firm’s Operating Group and Policy Committee.

Mr. Hairston is a member of the American, Ohio and Columbus Bar Associations and serves on the Board of Directors of Central Benefits Mutual Insurance Co., Dealers Alliance Corp., Dealers Assurance Co., Dennison Health Providers Assurance Co., Doctors Hospital Development Foundation and Doctors Hospital Foundation.

Mr. Hairston is also active in the Columbus community, serving as a member of the Board of Trustees of Recreation Unlimited and the National Council of The Ohio State University College of Law. He is a former trustee of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and the Columbus Museum of Art.
