Glen Shu

Glen Shu counsels and represents many types of clients that find themselves in disputes or in litigation. Mr. Shu has particular experience in contract disputes, oil and gas litigation, catastrophic injury/death claims, motor vehicle franchise litigation, arbitration, business torts, deceptive trade practices, disputes between business owners, international/cross-border litigation, and general tort matters.

Mr. Shu represents clients in the energy, petrochemical, motor vehicle, banking, metals, and construction industries. Clients range from FORTUNE 100 companies to individual business owners.

Mr. Shu has extensive experience litigating in state and federal trial and appellate courts, as well as before arbitration panels and administrative agencies. Representative matters include the following:

  • Representing oil and gas operators, drillers and other service providers in disputes related to on-site and workplace injuries and wrongful death claims, as well as indemnity disputes over those claims.
  • Defending motor vehicle manufacturers against claims involving violations of motor vehicle distribution rules and regulations in both administrative agencies and in district court.
  • Enforcing arbitration agreements in contract disputes, including, when necessary, appellate enforcement of those arbitration rights.
  • Representing businesses from various industries in contract, fraud, business tort, fiduciary duty and deceptive trade practice claims.
  • Handling clients’ disputes on appeal. Published appellate matters include Meyer v. WMCO, 211 S.W.3d 302 (Tex. 2006) and Ford Motor Co. v. Butnaru, 157 S.W.3d 142 (Tex. App.—Austin 2005, no pet.).

Mr. Shu is a member of the American Bar Association, the Texas Bar Association, and the Houston Bar Association. He has been named a “Texas Rising Star” by the publishers of Texas Monthly on multiple occasions. He is admitted to practice in all Texas state and federal district courts, as well as the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.

Mr. Shu’s experience before joining Baker Hostetler in 2000 includes service as a Briefing Attorney with the Fourteenth Court of Appeals in 1996-1997 and practicing with a firm primarily handling tort claims and insurance defense cases from 1997-2000.
