Hanna Madbak’s general commercial litigation experience focuses on technically complex disputes and transactions, including trade secret, IP litigation in general and patent litigation in specific. His practice also includes patent licensing and opinion work, transactional IP due diligence, patent portfolio maximization and protection, as well as patent prosecution.
Prior to practicing law, Mr. Madbak worked as a systems design engineer in Silicon Valley with the research and development group at KLA-Tencor, the world leader in semiconductor testing equipment. As an electronics engineer, Mr. Madbak designed and managed the development of printed circuit boards (PCB) and Application Specific Integrated Chips (ASIC) using Verilog Hardware Design Language (VHDL). Mr. Madbak’s engineering experience also includes designing and testing various electronic devices and systems, including semiconductors, analog and digital signal-processing circuitry and audio systems, as well as microprocessor-controlled systems.
Mr. Madbak has prosecuted and litigated patents in various technologies, including atomic force microscopy (AFM), semiconductor technology, computer-aided design (CAD), cellular communication systems (GSM-CDMA), medical devices and financial trading networks, as well as various business methods.
Mr. Madbak’s patent licensing experience includes advising clients in negotiations with competitors and patent holding companies relating to various so-called essential patents.
Mr. Madbak is a member of the New York State Bar Association and serves as member of its Committee on Civil Rights. He is one of the authors of the Committee’s blog, “Guantánamo and Beyond: A Blog on Executive Detention, National Security and Due Process.”
Mr. Madbak is fluent in French and Arabic.
