Holcombe Assumes Leadership of Cincinnati Office

David G. Holcombe Named Partner-in-Charge of
Baker Hostetler's Cincinnati Office

CLEVELAND, OH –Aprl 30, 2008 – Baker & Hostetler LLP has announced that David G. Holcombe has been named Partner-in-Charge of the firm's Cincinnati office, effective May 1. Holcombe succeeds William Appleton, who was recently named general counsel and a senior vice president for The E. W. Scripps Company, a firm client for over 75 years.

Holcombe has spent his career with Baker Hostetler. He joined the Cleveland office as an associate in 1981 and was elected to the partnership in 1990. When the Cincinnati office was established in 1997, he was one of several leading firm practitioners who transferred to Cincinnati—a “homecoming” for Holcombe, who spent his early childhood in the city.

As Partner-in-Charge, Holcombe will be responsible for the management of the office and its attorneys, who handle a wide array of matters for local, national and global companies in several major practice areas, including business, employment and labor, finance, health care regulation, intellectual property, litigation and arbitration, and real estate.

Holcombe will become a member of the firm's Operating Group, while continuing to counsel many of the firm's leading clients in employment-related litigation and employment relations.

"Dave is perfectly suited to assume the Partner-in-Charge role," said Alec Wightman, who serves with Steven Kestner as Executive Partner of the firm. "He is well respected within the legal community and his knowledge of the legal marketplace and office—having been resident since its launch 11 years ago—will all be invaluable assets as he assumes his new role in Cincinnati and as part of our firmwide management team."

An Ohio State Bar Association Board Certified Specialist in Labor and Employment law, Holcombe earned his law degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif, and his undergraduate degree from Denison University, where he was Valedictorian of his graduating class.
