James L. Moore

James L. Moore has significant experience in federal and state courts around the country. He has served as national counsel for products liability for a major manufacturer of pesticides. In that position, he obtained favorable results for his client in litigation throughout the country, including four favorable reported decisions since 1994. Mr. Moore has been a leader in the development of the FIFRA preemption defense nationwide for pesticide manufacturers.

Mr. Moore also has vast experience in other types of toxic tort litigation and has handled cases involving a wide range of substances. These cases involve products liability, premises liability and environmental exposure, including class action cases. Mr. Moore served as counsel for a Personal Injury Settlement Trust for all of its asbestos cases in Texas and Oklahoma.

In the area of premises liability, Mr. Moore has handled cases for oil and chemical companies his entire career. He currently handles all the premises cases for two chemical manufactures in Texas.

Mr. Moore has also handled oil and gas litigation and insurance coverage cases. He has successfully handled a Department of Defense investigation of a client and won a dismissal of a Federal False Claims Act case.

Mr.  Moore has significant experience in drug and medical device litigation. He has won three consecutive trials for a major manufacturer of orthopedic products. After graduating from law school, Mr. Moore was a briefing attorney for the Texas Court of Appeals in Beaumont. He then was in the litigation section of a major oil company, where he became head of the litigation section of its Houston office.

Mr. Moore is a member of the Defense Research Institute. He wrote a chapter in a products liability book entitled, “The Law of Strict Liability in Texas,” Houston Law Review, Vol. 14 No. 1 (1976-1977); this publication was named the outstanding legal article of the year by the Texas Bar Foundation. Mr. Moore was also co-author of an article entitled, “Federal preemption Under FIFRA,” For the Defense (March 1992).
