Jody Schechter works on a variety of litigation and business matters, including those in connection with Baker Hostetler’s role as counsel to the appointed Trustee in the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Services, LLC.
While in law school, Ms. Schechter interned with the United States Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, where she assisted the investigation of claims of employment discrimination on the basis of immigration status.
In addition, Ms. Schechter served as a student attorney in the Immigration Clinic, aiding her clients in receiving asylum, and volunteered with Jane’s Due Process, a non-profit organization devoted to providing legal assistance to minors. She also was active in the Women’s Law Caucus and the Public Interest Law Association. Ms. Schechter was a member of the Texas International Law Journal, in which her student note, “Promoting Embryonic Stem Cell Research: A Comparison of Policies in the United States and the United Kingdom and Factors Encouraging Advancement,” was published.
