John W. Petrelli joined the Houston office of Baker Hostetler in September 2006 as an associate in the Litigation Group. Mr. Petrelli has assisted a variety of clients on various litigation matters in state and federal court, including complex commercial litigation, products liability, collection matters, toxic tort, premises liability and oil and gas litigation.
More specifically, Mr. Petrelli has assisted in the representation of a major energy company pursuing multimillion-dollar insurance claims in connection with offshore drilling platforms damaged due to tropical storms. He has successfully defended a large drilling company against a variety of breach of contract and premises liability claims and has experience defending a nationwide industrial facility operator against breach of contract claims involving numerous complex issues.
Mr. Petrelli has also gained significant experience defending products liability and toxic tort actions. He is currently involved in an asbestos litigation docket involving a large industrial corporation defending against over 500 plaintiffs. He also has assisted in representing major energy companies defending against allegations of chemical exposure due to pipeline bursts and industrial plant explosions.
During law school, Mr. Petrelli was involved in a variety of mock trial and moot court competitions and placed first in the James Hippard Sr. Open Mock Trial Competition. He also was a member of the Houston Journal of International Law.
Mr. Petrelli is a member of the Texas and Houston Bar Associations, as well as the Texas and Houston Young Lawyers Associations. He is an active member of the St. Anne Catholic Community.
