Justin T. Winquist

Justin Winquist practices in the area of complex civil litigation. Mr. Winquist has experience with a wide variety of litigation in federal and state courts across the country, as well as before arbitration panels and mediators in alternative dispute resolution. He also has recent experience handling preliminary injunctions and temporary restraining orders from both a plaintiff and defendant perspective.

Mr. Winquist’s experience has involved a variety of legal issues, including trusts and estates, debtor-creditor law, bankruptcy avoidance actions, class actions, insurance, trade secrets, unfair competition, consumer protection, fiduciary duties, contract disputes, fraud, defamation and First and Fourth Amendment constitutional issues.

In addition, Mr. Winquist is currently a member of the Baker Hostetler team assisting the SIPC trustee with the investigation and liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC.

Mr. Winquist was recently part of a Sedona Conference team that reviewed and updated the commentary to the Sedona Principles, the widely cited manual of best practices and recommendations for managing electronic discovery.

During law school, Mr. Winquist served as a Note & Comment Editor for the American University Law Review. He was the 2009 recipient of the Lura E. Turley Prize for Outstanding Publication in the American University Law Review for his Note, “Arbitrary and F*@#^$! Capricious: An Analysis of the Second Circuit’s Rejection of the FCC’s Fleeting Expletive Regulation in Fox Television Stations, Inc., v. FCC (2007),” 57 Am. U. L. Rev. 723 (2008). He also instructed first-year law students in legal writing for two years as a Dean’s Fellow student instructor in the legal writing program.

Mr. Winquist is a member of the American, Colorado and Denver Bar Associations.
