Karen Swanson Haan focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation. Her experience includes work on intellectual property lawsuits, antitrust litigation, and other business disputes. Ms. Swanson Haan recently assisted with a lengthy civil trial on behalf of the plaintiff, in which the jury found that the defendants violated the Ohio Pattern of Corrupt Activities Act and awarded significant compensatory damages.
Ms. Swanson Haan is also active in the firm’s pro bono program. She has represented numerous clients in criminal appeals, including an inmate seeking to set aside his conviction in federal habeas corpus proceedings before the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. She also assisted with the civil rights litigation that ensued after the unconstitutional interrogation and wrongful conviction of a twelve-year-old boy.
While in law school, Ms. Swanson Haan served as Executive Editor of the Cleveland State Law Review and as a member of the Board of Governors of the Cleveland-Marshall Moot Court Team.
Ms. Swanson Haan currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. In September 2008, she was appointed to the Dean’s Visiting Committee. She is also a member of the Cleveland Metropolitan, Ohio, and American Bar Associations.
