As a member of the firm’s Litigation Group, Kathryn Heim’s practice focuses on general commercial, bankruptcy and securities litigation in both state and federal courts. Ms. Heim also has experience in arbitrations where she most recently served on a small team of Baker lawyers, securing a multimillion-dollar verdict on behalf of the firm’s client.
Ms. Heim has experience litigating a wide variety of matters, including breaches of contract, breaches of fiduciary duties, securities and ERISA class actions and other business-related disputes. Since May 2010, Ms. Heim has been a member of the Baker Hostetler team that serves as Counsel to the SIPA Trustee for the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC, working on the global investigation of the Ponzi scheme—the largest financial fraud in history—and related litigations seeking recoveries for the Customer Fund.
Prior to joining Baker Hostetler, Ms. Heim was an associate with Cravath, Swaine & Moore, LLP, where she represented a number of global companies in a variety of matters, including securities fraud, antitrust law, ERISA class actions and attorney misconduct.
While attending law school, Ms. Heim interned for Senior District Judge Dickinson R. Debevoise of the United States District Court of New Jersey. She also served as an editor on the Rutgers Law Review, a research assistant for the Rutgers School of Law Research and Writing Program and as a student advocate for the Rutgers Special Education Clinic.
Ms. Heim is a member of the American Bar Association and New York State Bar Association.
