Lana Ljuboja is responsible for working on a variety of matters, with emphasis in the area of international trade. She also works on international transactional and international litigation matters. Ms. Ljuboja handles a wide variety of compliance matters related to U.S. export controls and U.S. customs laws and regulations and she represents companies in administrative proceedings before U.S. government agencies, including the U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Department of State, U.S. Department of the Treasury, U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Census Bureau.
Ms. Ljuboja represents companies on license applications, voluntary self disclosures, classification requests and commodity jurisdiction requests. She also advises companies in conducting internal compliance reviews, drafting import and export compliance programs and creating company-wide training presentations on various topics.
Prior to joining Baker Hostetler, Ms. Ljuboja was an associate at a mid-size law firm, working on diverse projects relating to a major U.S.-based oil and gas litigation case.
During law school, Ms. Ljuboja served as a Senior Articles Editor of the Houston Journal of International Law, earning an award for an Outstanding Comment on a Topic in International Law for her article on the International Criminal Court. Ms. Ljuboja was also an American Arbitration Association Research Scholar.
Ms. Ljuboja speaks, reads and writes Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian fluently and is conversant in Spanish. Ms. Ljuboja is a member of the Houston District Export Council (DEC), the American Bar Association and the Houston Young Lawyers’ Association.
