Laurence Markowitz is the Business Group Coordinator for Baker Hostetler’s New York office and has been advising and providing a broad range of legal services to public and private enterprises, both domestic and off shore, for over 30 years.
His clients include web-based companies, advertising representative firms, optical companies, real estate developers and finance companies, a number of investment funds and private equity firms, a business development company, numerous private investors and a state investment entity. His international clients include companies in France, the United Kingdom, Brazil and the Bahamas.
He advises his clients regarding investments, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, private placements, securities law compliance, corporate governance, intellectual property protection and employment matters.
In the securities area, Mr. Markowitz is particularly active in representing investment advisors and asset managers. He has structured and formed a variety of domestic and foreign investment limited partnerships, hedge funds and private equity funds and has assisted with their legal compliance, trading and M&A transactions. He counsels various private investors with regard to fund investments internationally and represents a leading global private equity fund solicitation firm.
Mr. Markowitz has extensive experience in the formation and operation of limited liability companies for entrepreneurs and joint ventures, and for several years presented a CLE lecture in this area for the New York City Lawyers Association.
Mr. Markowitz also has extensive experience in financings, including real estate financings.
Mr. Markowitz is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York Bar Association and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
