Lora M. Reece focuses her practice in the area of complex commercial litigation. In that capacity, she has experience in all phases of trial and appellate advocacy before state and federal courts, as well as in the arbitration and mediation of disputes.
Ms. Reece has been a team member on a number of complex commercial disputes involving substantial claims brought against, or on behalf of, FORTUNE 500 companies. Most recently, Ms. Reece played a major role on a team that secured the dismissal of multiple business tort and contractual claims brought against a multinational manufacturer. Additionally, in a matter involving a global oil, gas and petrochemical company, Ms. Reece was responsible for researching and drafting the dispositive motion that secured summary judgment on behalf of the company. The case was ultimately reviewed and upheld by the Ohio Supreme Court, setting precedent critical to the client’s business model. On behalf of a leading industrial gas producer, Ms. Reece had a lead role on a team that successfully arbitrated a contractual dispute, obtaining a decision that saved over $200 million in client revenues.
Ms. Reece is currently serving on the LexisNexis Client Advisory Board, an organization which brings together litigation attorneys from AmLaw 100 law firms to discuss emerging trends and best practices relating to e-discovery and large-scale litigation management. Through her involvement, she stays current on the technologies and processes needed to efficiently manage both large and small matters.
Ms. Reece has represented companies and individuals in state and federal regulatory and criminal investigations and has counseled parties on matters of antitrust compliance. She has also been a member of teams that successfully defended a variety of class action lawsuits. In addition, Ms. Reece has represented several construction engineering and manufacturing companies in toxic tort litigation.
Ms. Reece is a member of the American, Ohio and Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Associations.
