Marc Hirschfield Joins New York Office & Madoff Liquidation Team

Addition Expands Bankruptcy and Debt Finance Groups

NEW YORK, NY March 18, 2009 – Baker Hostetler announced today the expansion of its Bankruptcy, Restructuring & Creditors' Rights and Debt Finance groups with the addition of partner Marc Hirschfield. Mr. Hirschfield will join the team representing Irving Picard, the court-appointed trustee under the Securities Investor Protection Act for the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC. Mr. Hirschfield, who was most recently a partner with Ropes & Gray, will be resident in Baker Hostetler's New York Office.

Mr. Hirschfield is experienced in all aspects of insolvency and reorganization practice. He regularly represents debtors, creditors' committees, debtor-in-possession lenders, secured and unsecured creditors and acquirers of assets in both out-of-court workouts and bankruptcy cases. Mr. Hirschfield is experienced in cross-border insolvency cases having been involved in cases in various countries such as Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, Canada and Australia. Mr. Hirschfield also represents the Chapter 11 Trustee of a hedge fund that operated as a Ponzi scheme in its bankruptcy pending in the Southern District of New York Bankruptcy Court.

Mr. Hirschfield has significant experience in representing commercial lenders providing asset-based loans, senior, mezzanine and second lien financings. He has represented lenders in numerous financing transactions involving companies in the food and beverage, healthcare, technology, automotive, construction, aviation and manufacturing industries.

Mr. Hirschfield is a court certified mediator and has been appointed to the Mediation Panels for the United States Bankruptcy Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the District of Delaware. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and previously clerked for the Honorable Richard J. Arcara, U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York.
