Melissa Hansford works on a variety of litigation matters related to Baker Hostetler’s role as counsel to the court-appointed Trustee under the Securities Investor Protection Act (SIPA) in the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC.
During law school, Ms. Hansford worked as a legal extern to the Honorable Kim Browne and the Honorable Jim Mason at the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas in the Domestic Relations Division. Also, Ms. Hansford was elected as the Public Relations Chair for Child and Family Law Advocates and served on the Student Bar Association Career Services Committee. In addition, she worked as a research assistant for the National Center for Adoption Law and Policy and as both a bailiff and judge for the National Moot Court Competition for Family and Child Welfare Law in Columbus, Ohio. Ms. Hansford earned the CALI Award in her Trial Advocacy class and received concentrations in Child and Family Law and Dispute Resolution.
Prior to attending law school, Ms. Hansford interned at the Ohio Attorney General’s Office in both the Collections Enforcement and Revenue Recovery Sections.
Ms. Hansford is a member of the American, Ohio State and Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Associations.
