Melissa Kosack is a member of the firm’s Commercial Litigation and Securities Litigation and Regulatory Enforcement Groups. Ms. Kosack is currently working on multiple matters in connection with BakerHostetler’s role as counsel to the court-appointed Trustee under the Securities Investor Protection Act in the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC. Her practice also includes accounting, securities litigation and general commercial litigation, including matters for private, as well as FORTUNE 500, companies.
Prior to joining BakerHostetler, Ms. Kosack was a litigation associate at a major national law firm where she was the lead senior associate on a series of complex commercial litigations relating to the subprime mortgage and accounting industries. She has also represented clients before the American Arbitration Association and handled various white collar and other commercial matters. In addition to representing corporate entities, Ms. Kosack has represented directors, officers and other corporate executives. She has dedicated significant pro bono hours to mentoring high school students to compete in the New York State Bar Association’s 2010 Statewide High School Mock Trial Tournament.
During law school, Ms. Kosack served on the Cardozo Arts and Entertainment Law Journal as Articles Editor and completed a semester at the New York County Office of the District Attorney as a Student Assistant District Attorney. She also was competitively selected to participate on Cardozo’s Trial Team and served as a Legal Writing Teaching Assistant.
Ms. Kosack is a member of the American Bar Association, New York State Bar Association and the New York County Lawyers’ Association.
