Beth Howe counsels her clients in a variety of litigation matters, with a particular focus on commercial litigation and white collar criminal defense. She has represented both individuals and corporations in actions for breach of contract and copyright infringement, shareholder disputes, compliance with investigations by government agencies and proceedings under the Bankruptcy Code. As part of her commitment to pro bono legal work, Ms. Howe has participated in the representation of indigent clients on death row or facing removal from the United States by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Ms. Howe is a member of the Baker Hostetler team serving as court-appointed counsel to the SIPA Trustee for the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC, working on international litigations and investigations in connection with one of the largest financial frauds in recorded history.
Prior to graduating from law school, Ms. Howe interned for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, Public Interest Bureau, and the Illinois Office of the State Appellate Defender, Post Conviction Unit, in Chicago, where she assisted in cases ranging from consumer fraud prosecutions to death penalty appeals. While at Northwestern, she also served on the editorial board of the Journal of Law and Social Policy and assisted in the criminal defense of juvenile clients as part of the Bluhm Legal Clinic.
