Muldowney Speaks at UF Sports Law Symposium

Orlando partner Pat Muldowney recently spoke at the 2010 Sports Law Symposium sponsored by the University of Florida Entertainment and Sports Law Society. The event, which took place at the University's Levin College of Law in Gainesville, featured speeches by Dr. Harvey Schiller, former Executive Director/Secretary General of the United States Olympic Committee, and Donald Fehr, former Executive Director of the Major League Baseball Players Association, as well as panel discussions featuring a number of nationally-known practitioners, journalists and academicians in the area.

Muldowney, who represents the Orlando Magic in employment law matters, participated in a panel on various issues involving the National Basketball Association's collective bargaining agreement. Topics addressed by the panel included the recent suspension of Washington Wizards star Gilbert Arenas for allegedly brandishing a firearm in the locker room, the NBA's prohibition on drafting players directly out of high school, and the possibility of a strike or lockout after the 2010-2011 season.
