Baker Hostetler’s growth in the competitive New York legal marketplace was the subject of a feature accompanying the New York Law Journal’s annual “Largest Private Law Offices” list.
“When George Stamboulidis took over Baker & Hostetler’s New York office in January 2009, the Cleveland-based firm was a blip on the radar of the New York legal establishment. The firm had grown its New York office from the three lawyers who started the outpost in 2001 to 66, yet did not even touch the top 100 offices in the state,” the article noted.
“What a difference two years makes. Just a year after breaking into the ranking of the 100 largest private law offices in New York state, Baker & Hostetler made the largest climb up the charts by going from No. 99 last year to No. 60. And Mr. Stamboulidis acknowledges part of that has to do with its work as counsel to the trustee in the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities, LLC.”
“It’s a huge engagement and it's certainly helping,” Stamboulidis said of the Madoff engagement.
