Carney to Address Multi-Agency Enforcement Conference

New York partner John Carney, who serves as co-leader of the firm's national White Collar Defense and Corporate Investigations group, has been invited to speak at the Practising Law Institute's "Enforcement 2010: Multi-Agency Enforcement Efforts in the New Decade" conference, to be held June 1, 2010, in New York City, with a simultaneous webcast.

In the wake of the financial crisis, unprecedented changes are affecting the entire economic and business structure, as well as individual institutions. The conference will address a myriad of topics, including: Enforcement priorities of Federal and State regulators and law enforcers; Regulatory landscape—what's happened over the last year; Regulatory agenda—what’s on the horizon; and Practical tips for navigating the new regulatory and enforcement landscape.

Carney, a former Securities Fraud Chief, Assistant United States Attorney and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Senior Counsel, will moderate the panel, "Interacting with the Agencies," which will address the following topics:

  • Dos and don'ts—practical advice
  • What does it mean to cooperate? 
  • How to say no
