Conley to Receive Diversity Champion Award

Baker Hostetler New York partner S. Jeanine Conley will receive the 2011 Diversity Champion Award at a ceremony and luncheon hosted by the New York City Bar Association on May 24, 2011. She is one of four 2011 recipients. The award recognizes the critical role individual attorneys have played in initiating and sustaining change within their organizations and the overall New York legal community. The award recipients embody the New York City Bar’s Statement of Diversity Principles, which defines diversity as an inclusive concept, encompassing race, color, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, religion, nationality, age, disability and marital and parental status.

A partner in the Litigation Group, Conley maintains an active pro bono practice involving immigration, criminal and landlord/tenant issues. She is President of the Association of Black Women Attorneys; the New York City Bar delegate to the New York State Bar House of Delegates; a member of Legal Momentum’s Board of Advisors; and a member of the Committee on Minorities in the Profession of the New York City Bar, which she will chair next year. Conley was a member of the inaugural class of the Council of Urban professional’s fellows program from 2008-2009, was recognized during Long Island University's black history month program for excellence in the legal field and currently participates in the Practicing Attorneys for Law Students Program (PALS).
