Selby Addresses ABA Webinar

New York partner Judy Selby was invited to be a speaker for the American Bar Association's June 24, 2010, webinar, "Bermuda-Form Arbitrations in London: Key Issues And Practical Considerations."

Selby, who heads Baker Hostetler's internal Discovery and Litigation Support Teams, which oversee all discovery issues (including ESI) arising out of the firm's appointment as counsel to the SIPA Trustee in the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Services LLC, was one of five speakers who addressed the following topics:

  • Practical advice for both policyholder and insurer attorneys in initiating and conducting Bermuda-form arbitration proceedings in London; 
  • The key differences in the pre-hearing pleading and discovery process in a Bermuda-form arbitration vs. that of an American-venued arbitration;
  • The unique issues concerning application of the attorney-client privilege and work-product doctrine in Bermuda-form arbitration proceedings; 
  • The procedures used in conduct of the arbitration hearing; 
  • The issuance and enforcement of awards entered in a Bermuda-form arbitration.
