The American Lawyer: Baker Hostetler Ranks High in Midlevel Survey

Continuing a positive trend, Baker Hostetler has once again received excellent rankings in The American Lawyer's annual midlevel associate survey. Baker Hostetler achieved its highest overall ranking to date at #17, a significant increase from it’s #37 overall ranking last year.

The list included responses from third-, fourth- and fifth-year associates who were asked to rate their firms in 12 areas, including: relations with partners and other associates; the interest and satisfaction level of the work; training and guidance; policy on billable hours; management's openness about firm strategies and partnership chances; the firm's attitude toward pro bono work; compensation and benefits; and the respondents' inclination to stay at their firm for at least two more years.

The publication also listed results in 48 specific markets, and Baker Hostetler received strong marks in several cities. The Cleveland, Columbus, Houston and Orlando offices were ranked #1 in their respective markets. The New York office was ranked #12 out of 67 firms and the Washington, D.C. office was ranked #11 out of 50 firms - both strong showings in ultra competitive markets.

"We are proud of our ranking on The American Lawyer list, and we view it as further confirmation that Baker Hostetler offers associates a strong platform not just when they begin their legal careers, but also as they continue to grow their skills and gain experience," said Executive Partner Steve Kestner. "With our associate development program, we are setting the foundation for their individual success, as well as the continued success of the Firm."

"These rankings are particularly timely as we move into the fall recruiting season," noted Ron Okada, Partner-in-Charge of the Chicago office and the Firmwide Hiring Partner. "We are very fortunate to have so many positive things to share with law students across the country, and I expect this to be a strong recruiting year for us."
