Baker Hostetler Expands New York Office with Team of Intellectual Property Attorneys
NEW YORK, NY β July 15, 2008 β Baker Hostetler announced today the expansion of its New York office and Intellectual Property Practice Group with the addition of partners Richard M. Lehrer, David J. Sheehan and Oren J. Warshavsky. All three were most recently with Troutman Sanders LLP. Associates Eric R. Fish and Jason Stephen Oliver also recently joined the firm from Troutman Sanders. The addition of these five attorneys is the most recent in a series of strategic hires by Baker Hostetler to expand its New York presence and increase the national platform for its Intellectual Property practice. In May, Peter Brown, renowned technology lawyer and the co-founding partner of Brown Raysman Millstein Felder & Steiner, joined the firm. Earlier this spring, Baker Hostetler also added IP partners David Einhorn, Robert βRedβ Horowitz, Eugene Lieberstein and Donna Tobin to its New York office. Mr. Sheehan, rated as one of the top 100 lawyers in New York and a Super Lawyer in both New York and New Jersey, brings to Baker Hostetler over 30 years of trial experience in intellectual property matters and complex product liability matters, with a particular emphasis on drug product liability cases. He has represented major pharmaceutical companies in trademark and patent cases, as well as in drug product liability cases and consumer fraud class actions. He has also tried significant trademark and copyright cases for leading members of the publishing industry. In addition, he has tried numerous complex commercial litigation matters, ranging from antitrust in the casino gaming industry to a failed corporate acquisition by a FORTUNE 50 corporation. Mr. Lehrer has extensive experience in procurement, protection and licensing of patents, trademarks and copyrights, providing clients with infringement and validity assessment and counseling and evaluating complex issues associated with Intellectual Property due diligence. Mr. Lehrer, who has an electrical engineering degree, represents large and small corporations, start-up companies and individual inventors alike across a diverse range of technologies including telecommunications, computers, Internet and e-commerce, software, networking, lasers, age verification devices, medical devices, mechanical devices and novelty items. He also counsels various companies with regard to their general Intellectual Property strategies and invention mining.
