Oakley V. Andrews

Oakley V. Andrews primarily handles matters pertaining to estates and trusts, with special emphasis on federal and state income, gift, and estate tax law, estate planning, and administration. A significant portion of Mr. Andrews' practice involves tax and other planning for owners of closely held businesses and members of their families, particularly business reorganizations and the integrated use of trusts and nonprofit organizations. He also handles international tax, property administration, and planning for clients who reside abroad or who have business or property interests outside the United States, as well as for foreign nationals who have business or other relationships within the United States.

Mr. Andrews represents clients in disputed or litigated matters pertaining to estates and trusts, including federal and state tax litigation. With more than 35 years of continuous practice in the trusts and estates area, he has represented hundreds of estates of substantial size and has successfully litigated, in state and federal courts, numerous cases involving will and trust constructions, will contests, claims by and against fiduciaries, and all forms of tax controversies. In addition to families, corporate executives, business owners, and fiduciaries, Mr. Andrews represents numerous private and public charitable organizations.

Mr. Andrews is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel; a member of the Case Western Reserve University School of Law, Society of Benchers; a past Chairman of the Estate Planning, Probate and Trust Law Section of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association; a past President of the Estate Planning Council of Cleveland; and a frequent lecturer on estate planning, tax, and related subjects. He is a member of the boards of various businesses and of civic organizations, including the Cuyahoga County Unit of the American Cancer Society; The John Huntington Art and Polytechnic Trust; The John Huntington Fund for Education; and The Canvasback Society.

Mr. Andrews joined Baker Hostetler in 1965 after being associated with the Trust Department of Union Commerce Bank.
