Ona T. Wang

Ona T. Wang focuses her practice on corporate criminal matters, securities litigation and regulatory enforcement, as well as general and complex commercial litigation.

While at Baker Hostetler, Ms. Wang has successfully represented individuals, corporations, financial industry clients and one of New York State’s largest municipalities as witnesses, targets and defendants in federal and state criminal investigations and before federal regulatory agencies. She also represents and counsels various corporate and institutional clients, including healthcare and pharmaceutical companies, financial services companies, media corporations and other businesses, in complex commercial litigation and at the intersection of criminal, civil and regulatory matters.

In addition to being Vice-Chair of the firm’s Pro Bono Committee, Ms. Wang is the Hiring Partner and Pro Bono Coordinator for the firm’s New York office. In her pro bono work, Ms. Wang represents individuals in capital post-conviction litigation at the state and federal levels with the Equal Justice Initiative of Alabama.

Ms. Wang is active in the legal community. She has been a member of the Federal Bar Council American Inn of Court since 2000, chairs the Federal Legislation Committee of the New York City Bar Association and is a member of the City Bar’s Task Force on National Security and the Rule of Law. Ms. Wang is also a member of the Second Circuit Judicial Conference Planning and Programming Committee.

From 1998 to 2000, Ms. Wang clerked for the Honorable Deborah A. Batts in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. During her clerkship, Ms. Wang assisted Judge Batts in managing a heavy civil and criminal docket, drafting opinions and assisting with status and settlement conferences, hearings and trials. Notable cases included dismissal on constitutional grounds of a conspiracy indictment against Chinese nationals for organ smuggling.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Wang was an associate in the litigation department of the New York office of another large national firm. There, she practiced complex commercial and intellectual property litigation and worked on a variety of matters, including the successful defense of a global telecommunications corporation in a multibillion-dollar suit and representation of inventors and patent owners in infringement litigation.

While in law school, Ms. Wang was the Executive Editor of the New York University Review of Law and Social Change. She volunteered with the Equal Justice Initiative of Alabama, where she worked on several capital post-conviction petitions and with Pro Bono Students of America, where she assisted in researching and drafting portions of an amicus brief to the United States Supreme Court in the VMI single-sex education case.
