A registered patent lawyer, Alan Larson counsels clients on issues related to U.S. and foreign patents and strategies regarding patent portfolios and protection of intellectual assets.
Mr. Larson prepares and prosecutes utility and design patent applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). He has a wide variety of experience practicing before the USPTO, including standard patent prosecution, initiating ex parte reexamination proceedings, prosecuting reexamination applications initiated by others and appealing examiner rejections.
In addition to his practice before the USPTO, Mr. Larson counsels clients and provides opinions regarding infringement, product clearance and the validity of patents. He also provides patent analysis and advice for patents anticipated to be in or currently in litigation.
Mr. Larson has experience in several technologies, including mechanical, electro-mechanical and bio-medical devices, as well as various business methods. Representative technologies include HVAC systems, power generation, power and hand tools, semi-conductors, hydraulics and surgical devices. He has completed graduate-level course work in gas turbine engine analysis and design, heat transfer systems and biomedical engineering.
While in law school, Mr. Larson served as an intern to Judge Rader, United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
