Pappert Appointed President of "Texas Exes" Houston Chapter

Houston partner Michael Pappert has been appointed to a one-year term as President of the Houston Chapter of the University of Texas (UT) Alumni Association, the "Texas Exes." Pappert, a 1979 graduate of UT, has been involved with the Texas Exes since 1989. The Houston chapter is the largest UT alumni chapter in the world with over 60,000 members.

The mission of the Texas Exes is to unite, inform and involve alumni and friends for the purpose of promoting, protecting and preserving The University of Texas. The Houston chapter leads all other Texas Exes chapters in:

  • Providing 30+ scholarships annually to outstanding area high school seniors attending UT, funded through a $2.7 million endowment that chapter members have raised. Additionally, the chapter has recently committed to fund one of "The 40 Acres Scholars" program scholarships, a $500,000 commitment;
  • Organizing minority academic support and outreach projects;
  • Volunteer community service hours;
  • Supporting outstanding Houston area high school teachers (first and currently only chapter to fund a "Texas Excellence Award for Outstanding High School Teachers);
  • Supporting Longhorn athletics (first chapter to endow the Second Century Fund with a $25,000 contribution entitled Houston Texas Exes Athletic-Academics Services Scholarship).
