Patrick Campbell focuses his practice in the areas of white collar and corporate criminal and regulatory matters, internal corporate investigations, employment litigation and general commercial litigation.
Mr. Campbell has represented clients in formal and informal investigations by the Securities and Exchange Commission, United States Attorney’s Office, Drug Enforcement Administration, various State Boards of Pharmacy and the New York Attorney General’s Office. He has responded to government subpoenas and document requests on behalf of corporate and individual clients. Mr. Campbell has also assisted in internal investigations of public companies involving compliance with the Controlled Substances Act and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), as well as represented individuals in criminal investigations concerning healthcare and public fraud.
Mr. Campbell has also represented employers in cases involving claims of employment discrimination, covenants not to compete, trade secret and confidential information protection, wrongful termination and harassment.
Mr. Campbell currently assists Baker Hostetler partner George A. Stamboulidis, appointed by the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York in November 2009 to serve as the Ethical Practices Attorney for Local 14-14B of the International Union of Operating Engineers, by managing a team overseeing the enforcement of the Consent Decree, including anticorruption investigations, commencement of disciplinary proceedings against corrupt union members and oversight of the union’s policies and procedures to ensure fair job referrals and elections.
Mr. Campbell is also involved in the investigation and the litigation in connection with Baker Hostetler’s role as counsel to the court-appointed trustee under SIPA in the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC.
Along with this work, Mr. Campbell devotes time to pro bono matters, including death penalty litigation. An active member of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA), Mr. Campbell serves as Secretary for the NYSBA’s Committee on Civil Rights and is a featured writer and editor for the Committee’s blog, “Guantánamo and Beyond: A Blog on Executive Detention, National Security and Due Process.” Mr. Campbell is also a member of the Federal Bar Council and serves on the Council’s First Decade Committee. In addition, Mr. Campbell co-authored the BNA Portfolio “Auditor’s Need to Know v. Counsel’s Need to Protect Client Confidences.”
While in law school, Mr. Campbell won the Carbonell Fellowship in Law and Policy and, as a Carbonell Fellow, managed his school’s Labor & Employment Law Program. Mr. Campbell was also was a member of the New York Law School Law Review’s Executive Board (Online Editor) and the law school’s Justice Action Center. Upon graduation, Mr. Campbell was the recipient of the Judge Joseph F. Solomon Award for Excellent Character and Fitness and the NYSBA Committee on Legal Education and Admission to the Bar 2007 Law Student Legal Ethics Award.
