Peter Shapiro works on a variety of litigation matters, including those in conjunction with Baker Hostetler’s role as counsel to the court-appointed trustee under SIPA in the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC.
Prior to joining the firm, Peter served as the Media Law Clerk at NBC Universal and worked in the Internet Bureau of the Office of the New York State Attorney General, where he prosecuted Internet fraud cases and was involved in negotiating with social media networks concerning the presence of child pornography. While in law school, Peter participated in the Innocence Project, a clinic dedicated to exonerating the wrongfully convicted through DNA testing.
Prior to attending law school, Peter worked for over a decade as a journalist, contributing articles to a variety of magazines and newspapers. Peter is the author of several books on popular music, including Turn the Beat Around: The Secret History of Disco.
