Given the challenges and opportunities being faced by the legal profession today, Podboy's article focuses on how law firms by laying a solid foundation, recognizing client-driven opportunities, and investing in resources that optimize growth can survive and thrive in a changing environment.

Podboy's article goes on to explore the business opportunities that difficult economic times can create for a law firm's clients and the firm itself. The article then discusses the research and educational tools that both governmental and commercial vendors have created to fuel client and law firm growth.
Podboy concludes: "Our interesting times have created opportunities for our clients. To respond, the clients need professional representation from law firms that have laid the proper foundation, recognized new opportunities for their clients, and invested in the resources to serve their clients. By doing all three, law firms should be ready to crank the ignition, hit the accelerator, and 'start it up!'
