Randall L. Solomon is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers and a past Chairman of the Litigation Section of the Cleveland Bar Association. Mr. Solomon is a “hands-on” trial lawyer who, from his first year of practice, has participated in all aspects of civil litigation. Currently, he concentrates his practice in the defense of mass toxic tort cases and in commercial, trade secret and construction litigation.
Mr. Solomon has been responsible for the firm’s defense of its clients in a variety of mass toxic injury cases, including asbestos, breast implant and vinyl chloride litigation, cases involving exposures following explosions and fires, exposures to solvents, pesticides and radioactivity, cases in which immunological, psychological and neurological injuries were at issue, and cases seeking medical monitoring.
In both his toxic tort and commercial litigation practices, Mr. Solomon has extensive experience in defending against and in the settlement of class actions. Mr. Solomon has appeared before the Judicial Panel for Multidistrict Litigation and has handled cases consolidated by the Panel before an MDL judge.
In his construction litigation practice, Mr. Solomon has defended and prosecuted cases involving construction products and has both defended and prosecuted claims against construction professionals. Among the litigated matters for which he has been responsible are cases involving masonry construction and design, precast and poured-in-place concrete, roofing, geotechnical issues and construction delays.
Mr. Solomon has also litigated matters in the areas of trade secrets, general products liability, securities, insurance, computers and computer software, employment contracts and employment discrimination.
Mr. Solomon has written and lectured extensively to law students, to fellow professionals and to members of the business community on toxic tort issues, on various topics of concern to trial lawyers, on the management of mass tort litigation and on handling the media in the context of litigation. He is a member of the Defense Research Institute, a Master Bencher in the Judge John M. Manos Inn of Court and a life member of the Eighth District (Ohio) Judicial Conference and the Sixth Circuit (Federal) Judicial Conference.
Mr. Solomon has been named an “Ohio Super Lawyer” by Law and Politics since 2004, with special recognition as one of the top 100 lawyers in the State of Ohio, as well as one of the top 50 lawyers in the Cleveland area. He has been honored as a leading lawyer in the field of Litigation by Chambers and Partners in the Chambers USA Client’s Guide every year since that publication’s inception in 2003, and he has been listed in the Best Lawyers in America in every edition since 1995.
In 2006, Mr. Solomon was appointed by the Ohio Supreme Court to the Ohio Commission on the Rules of Practice and Procedure. Mr. Solomon has been appointed by the Court to serve as the Chair of the Rules of Evidence Subcommittee of this Commission commencing in January 2007.
