Ms. Alexander appreciates the many situations where the law intersects with personal relationships, and the importance to individuals of successfully navigating the legal field. Her trust and estate litigation experience includes representing beneficiaries in disputes with their fiduciaries, representing claimants of estates and representing trust and estate fiduciaries, as well as contested conservatorships and guardianship proceedings. Her domestic relations experience includes everything from simple modifications of parenting plans to complex divorces involving substantial assets and business valuation issues. She has also worked as a consulting expert on divorce cases where beneficial interests in trusts are involved. Additionally, Ms. Alexander has a depth of experience in resolving disputes between members of closely held businesses, where the livelihoods of the parties or the welfare of the business may be threatened by the conflict in the business relationship.
Ms. Alexander’s substantial practice involving the drafting and negotiation of marital agreements draws on her experience in both the estate and domestic relations fields. Her domestic relations experience enables her to assist clients in protecting their interests in the event of a divorce, while her estate and trust litigation experience lends itself well to the negotiation of marital agreements from an estate planning perspective.
Ms. Alexander has appeared in both state and federal district courts and has successfully argued cases before the Colorado Court of Appeals and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Alexander served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Jim R. Carrigan of the United States District Court for the District of Colorado.
Ms. Alexander is the Legal Advisor to the Denver Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for a Cure Foundation and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Colorado Legal Aid Foundation. She served as Co-Chair of the Eighteenth Annual Denver Bar Foundation Barrister’s Benefit Ball and as a representative on the Denver Bar Association Board of Governors. Ms. Alexander currently serves as the firm’s representative to the Colorado Pledge to Diversity. Within the firm, Ms. Alexander is the Denver Office Risk Management Partner, is an active member of the Firmwide Investment Committee, the Women’s Committee and Denver Office Diversity Committee, and she previously served as the Denver Office Law School Hiring Partner for many years.
