Ryan Cates focuses his practice on management-side employment litigation, counseling and traditional labor law. He assists clients on matters involving defense of retaliation and whistleblower claims, state and federal antidiscrimination laws, wage and hour issues, noncompete agreements and trade secrets. He also provides clients with advice and counseling on traditional labor matters involving arbitrations, collective bargaining and unfair labor practices in both the public and private sectors.
Mr. Cates has experience representing clients in most stages of litigation before state and federal courts, as well as administrative agencies. Prior to joining Baker Hostetler, Mr. Cates worked for a civil litigation firm where he defended lawsuits on behalf of corporate clients in the areas of employment litigation, business litigation and general tort litigation. While attending law school, he served as a law clerk at a boutique civil litigation firm in Cleveland, Ohio.
Mr. Cates is a member of the American, Ohio and Columbus Bar Associations.
