Sameer V. Mohan

Sameer V. Mohan is a partner in the Business Group of the Houston Office and has been with Baker Hostetler for his entire legal career. Mr. Mohan currently serves as the Hiring Partner for the Houston Office and is a member of the Firmwide Hiring Committee. Mr. Mohan maintains a diverse business practice focused on mergers and acquisitions, complex joint ventures, international transactions and commercial real estate transactions. He has extensive experience as lead counsel for a variety of large public and private companies, particularly in the energy and healthcare industries.

Mr. Mohan has represented large energy companies on a variety of domestic and international transactions, including asset acquisitions and divestitures, stock purchase and sales transactions and complex joint ventures. He has been the lead counsel for several large onshore and offshore pipeline companies on a variety of joint ventures, transportation agreements and major project construction agreements. Recently, Mr. Mohan represented a publicly traded exploration and production company in the divestiture of a $200 million pipeline system in Mississippi and Louisiana, and a large offshore pipeline joint venture in a $750 million project to construct a new lateral pipeline in the Gulf of Mexico.

Furthermore, Mr. Mohan represents numerous oilfield services companies, including seismic data acquisition companies, on a variety of domestic and international contracts, including licensing agreements, services agreements, strategic alliance agreements and large project development agreements, including projects in Africa and the Middle East.

Mr. Mohan has been lead counsel for a large alternative fuels company focused on ethanol, biofuels and liquid propane gas for the domestic and international market and lead counsel for another large company focused on the compressed natural gas market for international transactions.

In the commercial real estate sector, Mr. Mohan has vast experience representing clients in leasing transactions and purchase and sale of commercial properties, ranging from office buildings, condominium properties and shopping center developments. Mr. Mohan served as lead counsel for a large healthcare company with respect to their entire commercial real estate portfolio across the United States.

For the past several years, Mr. Mohan has been named annually in Texas Monthly magazine as a “Texas Rising Star” and H Texas Magazine has listed Mr. Mohan as a Houston lawyer “On the Fast Track.” In 2005, Mr. Mohan was appointed by U.S. Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez to the West Texas District Export Council, an organization of business leaders promoting trade and economic growth, in which Mr. Mohan serves as a Board Member. Furthermore, Mr. Mohan is an active member of the Houston Young Lawyers Association and the Brazil-Texas Chamber of Commerce.
